Cross Country Coaches
This spring Bobby Cranston begins his seventh year coaching track at Ridge Community. He has also been the Bolts’ Head Boys and Girls Cross Coach since 2014. The Girls Cross Country team qualified for Region for the first time in school history in 2013 and repeated that feat in 2014 and 2016. The Boys Cross Country team qualified an individual for Region for the first time in school history in 2014 and repeated that feat in 2016 as well as this year when they qualified two individuals. Cranston coached the Boys Cross Country team at Haines City High for 12 years (1990-1995, 97-02). His teams won three District titles (93-95), a Region championship (93), and placed 7th at the state meet in Jacksonville (93). He was named Ledger All-Area Boys Cross Country Coach of the year in 1993 and 1995. He coached the distance runners for the Hornet Boys and Girls Track teams as well and helped to secure several District titles for both the Boys and Girls teams as well as two Region championships for the Girls (1998-99) and a Region Runner-Up finish for the Boys (94). In addition he coached an individual State Champion(94) in the Boys 800 meter run and a two-time State Runner-up in the Girls 1600 meter run(95, 98). Cranston ran Cross Country at Stetson University and served as Graduate Assistant for the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams at Alfred University (NY). He resides in Haines City with his wife Marie. His two children, Matthew and Tiffany, both ran for the Bolts and now attend Stetson.
