Coaches
Named Head coach of the RCHS girls’ basketball program in 2015, King has worked extremely hard to build the program. King has helped the program record its first winning season and currently has a 100% graduation rate. Additionally, King coached the first player in program history to sign a letter of intent to play college basketball during the 2017-2018 season. King also registered the first win in program history against cross-town rivals, Haines City.
Prior to Ridge Community High School, Coach King received her first assistant coach position at Tenoroc High School in 2014. She helped with player development and assisted with the junior varsity and varsity teams. While at Tenoroc, King’s passion for coaching flourished and motivated her to follow her dreams of becoming a head coach. Coach King got her start in coaching as an intern for the Men’s Basketball Program at Webber International University while finishing up her bachelor’s degree in 2011. King also served as a graduate assistant for the Women’s basketball program at the university in 2012-2013 while completing her MBA. King was responsible for assisting with administrative needs (i.e. scheduling, helping ensure daily operations in the practice facility run smoothly, etc.), assisting with executive needs (i.e. transporting of players/personnel, travel arrangements, etc.) and also assisting in the scouting department (i.e. training, coaching, video, player development, etc.). King played basketball collegiately at Webber International University from 2008-2011. While at WIU King excelled on the court, winning several athletic awards throughout her career. Coach King is a 2006 graduate of Haines City High School where she is played volleyball and basketball. King had a very successful high school career. Playing varsity all 4 years, King helped lead her team to the FHSAA state tournament in 2005. In her spare time, Coach King enjoys spending time with her family and traveling the world. Coach King is a proud member of the Church of Christ and loves studying the bible. |
This is Coach Pennington’s third year as a member of the coaching staff under King’s leadership. Pennington is the JV head coach and varsity assistant.
Coach Pennington was born in the Philippines and is a proud military kid; however she considers her hometown to be Orange Park, Florida. Pennington received a Master of Business Administration degree from Warner University in 2014. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Pre-Law concentration from Webber International University. While at Webber, Pennington and King were teammates and have been friends ever since. While at WIU, Pennington was a member of the Lady Warriors basketball team from 2009-2012 where she was an Academic All-American and team captain for the 2011-2012 season. Pennington graduated from Ridgeview High School in 2009 and was a four year varsity starter for the Lady Panthers; starting every high school game. Pennington was ranked the #4 three point shooter in the state of Florida during the 2007-2008 season. Pennington also participated in track and field. Pennington still holds the school record for career points, single season points and assists. Pennington enjoys reading, writing poetry and traveling. Pennington is also a Senior Felony Probation Officer for the State of Florida. She takes pride in player development both on and off the court and building a culture of success and productive young adults. |
